Following increased interest in private tuition, Liam is now offering one-to-one training courses for Security Dog Handlers.
Held at AGK9 Training’s own training ground near Hailsham in Sussex, one-to-one trainees will gain the ‘EDI Level 2 – General Purpose Security Dog Handler’ entry level qualification to work with a security dog in the UK. Read the Course Content & Criteria.
Training can be arranged in one continuous course of 6 days or at convenient intervals over several days or weeks, subject to Liam’s availability.
One-to-one security training offers the opportunity for faster progress and increased learning. The benefits of working to your own pace and the constant attention of the trainer mean that you will learn more intensively and therefore quicker, focusing on the skills that you need most without waiting for others to catch up or complete practical tasks.
Individual training with AGK9 often results in trainees completing additional course modules – usually covered in the ‘EDI Level 3‘ course – and gaining the increased confidence and understanding that will ensure a successful transition into your career as a Security Dog Handler.
All of our courses for security dog and handler training are NTIPDU and EDI (ASET) accredited.
You’ll find plenty of parking space at our training ground, and we can help with finding accommodation for trainees upon request. You can work with a professionally trained security dog from our team, or our recently refurbished kennels can offer a comfortable and convenient temporary home for your dog (at extra cost) on course dates, if required.

Security Dog Handler Training will be held once per month throughout 2014 at AGK9 Training, near Hailsham in Sussex.
Security Dog Handler Training – Course Dates
Monday 24th March to Saturday 29th March
Monday 28th April to Saturday 3rd May
Monday 26th May (Spring Bank Holiday) to Saturday 31st May
Monday 23rd June to Saturday 28th June
The course will be the ‘EDI Level 2 – General Purpose Security Dog Handler’ entry level qualification, unless otherwise specified, and will generally be held in the final week of the month; dates and qualification will be confirmed on this blog post.
Led by Liam Hastings, the 6 day training course is the British standard and industry recognised qualification to become a Security Dog Handler, providing trainees with the skills, confidence and understanding to work with a trained security dog.

Always a soft touch for dogs in distress, Liam recently rescued a beautiful Springer Spaniel from what may have been her final resting place at the vets.
Now named ‘Lucky’, this fortunate pup is undergoing rehabilitation and socialising for re-homing at our kennels near Hailsham, where Liam is happy to give up his time for such a worthy cause.
Lucky has a nervous disposition due to previous bad treatment but is warming to her trainers and beginning to relieve her shyness around other dogs with the help of her new companion, ‘Poppy’ – another Springer Spaniel currently being trained by Liam and the AGK9 team.
Liam says Lucky will finish her training towards the end of March when she will join other Waifs & Strays’ dogs needing a home.

AlphaGuardK9 and AGK9 Specialist Training provide regular training courses at our training grounds near Lewes and Hailsham in Sussex.
Security Dog Handler Training and CPD is generally available at least once per month and various Dog Training sessions are available as part of a course or as one-to-one training for pet dogs with behavioural issues.
The team have been busy with our security services and completing the dog kennels at our HQ near Hailsham over the last few months and we intend to organise our next training course in mid January 2014. Please watch this space for upcoming dates in the near future.
